All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Derry, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type. A valid driving licence appropriate for the rented vehicle is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Ensure you have valid payment details and a security deposit ready. Additional requirements may be outlined in your Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Derry location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All listed prices are in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document its status. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please contact us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All car rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Full coverage information and excess amounts will be outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability, so reviewing these options is advisable. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless covered by extra insurance. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains with you, irrespective of any insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rented Vehicle
- The use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices. Transportation of hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Vehicles must be used for their intended purposes only, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Operating the vehicle outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law in Derry, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be capped at the amount you paid for the rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury arising from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of their courts.
